Four treatises and ten letters written around 500 under the name of Dionysius, the Athenian converted by Paul: The Divine Names, The Mystical Theology, The Celestial Hierarchy, and The Ecclesiastical Hierarchy. They join Neoplatonic philosophy to Christian worship, teaching that God is beyond every name and is approached by negation and unknowing.
