A dream vision in which the narrator boards a bus from a drab, endlessly spreading grey town to the outskirts of heaven. There the ghostly passengers, too insubstantial even to bend the grass, are met by the solid people of heaven and urged to stay, and nearly all of them choose to go back rather than give up a grievance, an ambition, or a possessive love.
