Ten books tracing the church from Christ to the triumph of Constantine, compiled by the bishop of Caesarea from documents, letters, and earlier writers, many of which survive only in his quotations. It records lines of bishops, persecutions and martyrs, heresies, and which writings were accepted as Scripture.
